In the novel, Baek Woo-jin, after receiving martial arts training from the immortal swordsman, sets out on a journey to return to the academy. Along the way, he meets a search party looking for him and is able to return to the academy with their help.

However, after returning to the academy, Baek Woo-jin's image plummets. He is labeled a loser after failing a low-level mission and returning empty-handed.

“This is unbearable.”

Although he is not easily swayed by others' opinions, he is not the type to enjoy being looked down upon either.

‘Ugh.’

It's been a while, but he thought he'd go back and take care of those bandits who were leeching off this mountain. He finally found them after wandering through the mountains, but the mountain stronghold has already been ransacked.

"Oh well."

Once again, he pondered his options. Should he just turn back or seek another solution?

"I'll go around."

He opted to veer off the path, not descending the mountain to walk on flat ground but continuing through the connected peaks.

"Then I might encounter a couple of bandits."

His prediction was correct. As soon as he entered the next mountain, he encountered bandits at the halfway point.

"Hand over everything you have!"

How can they be so brazen?

"Hey, do you think I have anything to give you?"

What are they asking for from me, a beggar in rags?

"Well then, die!"

"Tsk."

It took him only as long as it takes to drink a cup of tea to beat down all fifteen bandits.

"Ah, this is quite refreshing."

Although he had been steadily accumulating inner qi through alcohol consumption, since the amount I originally had was so low, it was not easy to raise my level.

“Hmph, so now I’m a first-rate martial artist, huh?”

It was only now that he had reached the rank of first-rate martial artist, a level that others had already achieved long ago. He felt ashamed.

After stopping by their bodies and taking what little money he could find, he tied the bandits' bodies tightly together.

It was from this point on that he began to string the bandits up like Vienna sausages and carry them around on his back.

“The captain is disappointed in you all.”

He reformed the bandits, playing the part of the ever-disappointed company commander.

"Let's go to the next mountain!"

"Let's go!"

"Louder!"

"Let's go!"

The bandits' thunderous shouts were quite a force.

"Ugh, the world is a tough place to live."

Every time they crossed a mountain, bandits seemed to be waiting for them.

After beating them all down, they tied them up with ropes and tied them up at the back. Then, they designated a senior bandit and taught them the marching chant.

As he crossed the final mountain on his way to the Jungmu Academy, Baek Woojin found himself with nearly sixty tied-up bandits, some of whom had minor bounties on their heads.

"Hehehe, good."

Singing all sorts of songs, they climbed the mountain and headed to the academy; the last song they sang was the ballad they used to sing whenever the villains appeared.

After nearly dying and finally coming back to life, the lyrics of this song seemed truly exquisite.

He could see the numerous students and professors inside the academy. His excitement grew even more, and he began to dance as he headed towards the entrance.

He could see the faces of confusion. He could read each and every one of those emotions.

In the fantasy world of his first possession, he was a warrior. He was bullied, hit in the back of the head, and then became strong and cut off the devil's head.

It could be said that it was the epitome of a hero, as if drawn in a picture.

On the way here, Baek Woo-jin made a decision.

‘NovelGod2. I'm going to destroy as many tags as I can from the novel of this asshole of an author or author god or whatever he is.’

Oh, except for the harem tag, of course.

As he approached the entrance, Baek Woo-jin laughed heartily and shouted, not forgetting to line up the bandits neatly beforehand.

"Stand in line!"

"One, two!"

He exuded undeniable charisma.

Now was the time for the real announcement.

"First-year student Baek Woo-jin has returned after completing the bandit suppression mission!"

Since he had exceeded the mission success rate, he hoped they would overlook the fact that he had missed the deadline.

The dramatic entrance of the previously missing Baek Woo-jin was enough to stir up the usually tranquil atmosphere within the academy.

"Those guys behind him... are they all bandits?"

"Judging by their outfits, it seems so…..."

As the surroundings began to stir, the vice-principal felt the need to quickly wrap up this situation.

With authority in his voice, he shouted out, "What are the professors doing?! They should be escorting the students!"

"Ah, right away!"

"Understood."

At his command, the bewildered instructors who came to their senses began shepherding the students, gradually dispersing them.

As the noisy atmosphere gradually subsided, the vice-principal stepped over the entrance and headed towards Baek Woo-jin.

"Student Baek Woo-jin."

"I see the vice-principal."

His sword and the gourd were still in his hand, and the sight of him forcibly taking up a position of authority made the vice-principal's eyebrows twitch.

"What on earth is going on here?"

Baek Woo-jin, with one hand busy sheathing his sword in its scabbard at his waist while scratching the back of his head with the other, replied, "Haha, you see, after barely surviving a failed mission of the lowest rank, I figured I shouldn't return empty-handed, so I brought back a few nearby bandits."

A sweet smell of alcohol wafted through the air every time he spoke.

"Have you been drinking?”

"Yes, a little."

"Don't you know that you are not allowed to drink alcohol during a mission?"

"There are some sad circumstances...." Would they believe him if he said he had to drink alcohol to build up his internal qi? Baek Woojin shook his head.

"......Congratulations on your return alive for now. Go inside and get yourself sorted out first."

"Yes.”

Baek Woo-jin, who answered in a frivolous tone and walked away lightly, turned back and asked the vice-principal, "Excuse me."

"What is it…"

"By any chance, will you give me performance points for catching those bandits?"

".......That is a matter to be decided through an internal meeting."

"Ah, then I'll wait."

After bowing his head, the vice-principal watched Baek Woo-jin disappear again and sighed involuntarily, shaking his head.

* * * * *

"Ah, geez," Baek Woo-jin muttered, his expression sour as he continued to gulp down from his seemingly bottomless flask on his way back to the dormitory.

"If they don't give me performance points for this, I'm screwed..."

He rummaged through his memory and realized that out of the 25 performance points he needed to earn this semester, he was short of 10.

"1 point for the lowest grade, 2 points for the low grade, 3~4 points for the intermediate grade, 5 points for the high grade, and 10 points for the highest grade."

In the missions, which were divided into five grades, the only ones Baek Woo-jin, who had just reached the ranks of first-rate martial artists, could touch were the lowest grade, the low grade, and even the intermediate garde if he tried too hard.

"Ah, this is tough."

He realized that even if he could only do intermediate-grade missions, he would have to go out at least three times.

"I don't need 10 points, but I hope they at least give me 5..."

The stern face of the vice-principal flashed through his mind, and he felt a sense of unease that they might not even give him that.

"Ah well, I'll think about it later."

Today marked the end of his month-and-a-half-long stint in the forest. Returning straight to the dormitory, he eagerly poured cold water over himself from the large basin.

"Ah, fantasy worlds have it better."

For a moment, he longed for a fantasy world where hot water was available through magical engineering—

"Hmph."

—and he sobered up. He changed into his clean black uniform from the closet and looked at himself in the small mirror on the wall.

"Not bad looking."

With skin as flawless as jade, dark eyebrows, sparkling eyes like the night sky, and a perfectly shaped nose leading down to crimson lips.

"No wonder girls flock to me."

Just his face alone was enough to make a woman fall in love with him; they would approach, only to realize he was an empty vessel inside, then gradually distance themselves.

"Ah, poor guy."

All because he had the misfortune of encountering the wrong author, who subjected him to such treatment. And to top it off, there was a weapon he had yet to use, lying dormant in his pants.

"Hmm, I'll take it out when the time comes."

He patted his pants once, then laid down on the bed.

"Ughh!"

Compared to the beds in the real world, it was lacking, but it was heaven compared to the forest he had been living in for the past month.

Just as he was drifting off to sleep in that small bit of happiness, there was a loud knock on the door.

KNOCK!!!

"Woo-jin!"

The voice sounded familiar; though he had absorbed all the memories, applying them to life was another matter altogether.

"Who's there?"

Although he recognized the familiar voice, he couldn't quite place who it belonged to.

Reluctantly, he got up to open the closed door.

"Baek Woo-jin!"

As soon as he opened the door, he was greeted by a handsome man who looked eerily similar to himself.

"Brother?"

Before he could even recognize him, the words burst out. Baek Mu-hyuk, as if waiting, roughly pulled him in and tousled his hair, "You've come back well, really well!"

The almost tearful voice made him uncomfortable right away.

In Baek Woo-jin's memory, his brother was always a cold and indifferent person who only ever told him to work harder. So he thought their relationship wasn't that great, that's why he had talked so much to Juseon.

‘You've got it all wrong.’

He felt a pang of guilt. But he quickly shook it off.

'From now on, I'll just do my best.'

After all, in life, the present was the most important, not the past or the future.

"Are you hurt anywhere?"

"Nothing, don't worry."

"You...."

Baek Mu-hyuk studied his face; he still had the same clear eyes. However, what was contained in them was much different than before.

"You've changed."

"A little bit."

It was understandable. Only when one is on the verge of death does one truly look back on their life in the form of a "life review."

He thought his brother had changed because of that.

"Umm...."

Just as the brothers were catching up, a small voice came from behind Baek Mu-hyuk.

"Aaah!"

As if he had remembered something, Baek Mu-hyuk stepped aside, revealing the person hidden behind him.
